If there was a large enough quantity of oil to create significant displacement, I guess it might.... I would try again with only a small amount of oil (just enough to help seal around the rings) and also inject some air into the cylinder through the spark plug hole and see if it is sealing up at the point when the valves should be closed. You might be able to hear where air is leaking from to give you a better clue (e.g., through intake or dipstick hole).
